Principal Real Property Appraiser - City and County of San Francisco
The Office of the Assessor-Recorder is committed to serving the public and property owners of San Francisco. The function of the Assessor-Recorder's Office is to locate and identify all taxable property in the City and County and to ensure efficient, fair and accurate property assessments, in accordance with California state law. The Recorder maintains official records of the city, such as marriage licenses and property maps. Under direction of the Chief Appraiser, a 4267 Principal Real Property Appraiser is responsible for effectively planning, organizing, and supervising the activities of staff involved in the appraisal and assessment of real property. The incumbent also performs unusual or difficult appraisal work and performs related duties as required. Essential Duties: Supervise the work of senior, journey level and trainee Real Property Appraisers within an assigned area of activity; ensure that assigned staff complete training requirements and maintain professional certification and competency; Planning, coordinating and monitoring overall team workload and productivity; Apply and enforce relevant property tax laws, statutes and assessment methods and procedures; interpret ramifications of applicable legislation with real property appraisal activities; explain above to stakeholders; Review and approve all real property valuations pursuant to applicable property tax rules and Department procedures; resolve valuation problems. Requirements: Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND; a) Four (4) years of verifiable experience appraising real property in a County Assessor's Office, including two (2) years appraising income-producing residential, commercial and industrial properties OR; b) Six (6) years of verifiable experience appraising real property as a fee, institutional or government appraiser, including (3) years appraising income-producing residential, commercial and industrial properties. Examination Bulletin - California State Lands Commission. The California State Lands Commission is holding an exam for the Public Land Management Specialist (PLMS) IV position. The California State Lands Commission (CSLC) is a state agency that has jurisdiction over the State's sovereign and school lands. The PLMS series works under the direction of the Land Management Division and covers a wide range of real estate-related disciplines, including real estate appraisal.
