Course: Residential & Commercial Valuation of Solar
Aug
19 - 20
Location: University of Phoenix - Modesto Campus, Salida

Instructor: Tim Runde, MAI, LEED AP

Change is Coming.  The NEW 2020 California Solar Requirement New Residential Construction

The new California building energy code upgrade will require ALL new residential construction of up to 3 stories to include a solar PV system as of January 1, 2020. Appraisers need new knowledge, skills and tools to competently value these properties. Appraisers will find the valuation a challenge without knowledge of the technology and data available to use the methodology most appropriate. Appraisers must expand their knowledge base to understand how electricity is priced, how solar PV is priced, and how solar PV functions to develop a credible value. Residential and commercial appraisers will work together to apply an income capitalization approach and cost approach to valuing energy produced for solar PV systems. All you need is a tablet or iPad, with Internet access, and you’ll be able to use free software to value the energy that solar systems produce. This hands-on course introduces you to solar terminology, and through real-life examples and case studies, on both residential and commercial properties, shows you how to solve solar-related valuation problems. This course will focus on solar PV most commonly encountered in commercial and residential appraisal/consulting assignments.
